The New York International Auto Show (NYIAS, public days April 19 – 29) 2019 is all about SUVs at Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes-AMG: in five world premieres, the company is presenting the Mercedes-Benz GLS, the GLC Coupé and the EQC Edition 1886 as well as the updated performance models of the GLC SUV and coupe from Affalterbach. Also on display for the first time are the CLA 35 4Matic and the A 35 4Matic sedan.
The new GLS: More space, more comfort, more luxury
The new largest and most luxurious SUV from Mercedes-Benz can be seen for the first time worldwide: the Mercedes-Benz GLS is the S-Class among the SUVs. Especially in the second row, the space offered benefits from the 60 mm longer wheelbase. The three fully electrically adjustable rows of seats offer all passengers generous space and seating comfort. The 48-Volt active chassis E-active Body Control, known from the new GLE, offers superior suspension comfort, agile handling and high off-road capability.
The GLC Coupe: Form Meets Intelligence
Another SUV world premiere celebrates the revised Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. It impresses with its distinctive appearance, driver assistants, a new engine range and the infotainment system MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) with its versatile operating options. The advanced driver assistance systems were supplemented with, among other things, the exit warning, escape route and jam end functions.
Allrounder for every occasion
Also world premiere have the updated performance models of the GLC from Affalterbach. In addition to a higher driving dynamics and innovative gesture control, the SUV and Coupé will receive the MBUX infotainment system with AMG-specific functions and displays. The redesigned, flatter LED high performance headlights enhance the visual presence. The interior underlines the leading claim of the new mid-size performance SUV in terms of driving dynamics.
Agile driving dynamics in iconic design
For the first time the world public also shows the latest entry-level into the world of Mercedes-AMG: the CLA 35 4Matic with a powerful 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo engine and seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. In the exterior, he scores with sporty-slim waist, wide-shaped wheel arches and two power domes on the hood. The interior with fully digital displays is characterized by quality and elegance.
Sporty notchback model
Also seen as a world premiere is the Mercedes-AMG A 35 4Matic sedan. The 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the AMG Speedshift DCT 7G dual-clutch transmission, the AMG suspension and the AMG Performance 4Matic variable four-wheel drive guarantee exceptional driving dynamics. The entry-level model of the current AMG portfolio appeals to young target groups.
Limited special model for a special moment
With the world premiere of the EQC Edition 1886, Mercedes-Benz marks the dawn of the age of electromobility. The limited edition 1886 of the first Mercedes-Benz model of the product and technology brand EQ shows extensive optional extras such as coordinated elements in the exterior and interior.
